Benefactor- #AtoZChallenge

It was one of those typical thunderstorm mornings of the Mid Western United States. I was busy getting ready for school as usual, unaware of the heavy downpour. “Are you done yet?”, yelled my impatient roommate as we were getting late. Little did I know, that my punctual friend was unaware of the weather too. We rushed to get out of our apartment as we had a bus to catch. And then did we realize the rainstorm and wondered how we never payed attention to the thunders. Typical of someone who is not a morning person with a hurried morning routine!

Worst part? We had a final that morning and had to reach school within 15 minutes to ensure we weren’t absent. I can never forget that nerve wracking moment as we were helpless and had to get to school at any cost. It may not sound as one of those panicking situations for just a test. But it does matter to an international student who cannot take chances failing a course in a semester. Everything matters!

We stood near the door, pondering for options while watching the bus pass by. We were helpless, none of our friends with car were available. I started cursing myself for my laziness and my inability to wake up early on a test day. We decided to email the professor that we will be late due to bad weather, but will be taking the test. We headed to school by walk as we had no choice. Just within few steps from the apartment, we found ourselves completely drenched. The heavy downpour with our heavy backpacks made it difficult to walk any faster.

We were walking down the street and saw a car slowing down. As we were passing by the car, we heard a shrill voice through the thunders asking, “Are you heading to school? Do you need a ride?” “Yes please! Thank you very much!”, we replied with glowing faces. The sigh of relief we finally had was priceless! Thanks to the benevolent benefactor, who is unaware of how big of a help he was!

Many small acts of courtesy and help are often taken for granted. The person offering help may not consider it to be a big deal, unless it is monetary most of the times. But it indeed is! The benefactor is usually unaware of how thankful the person seeking help was!

This post is dedicated to all those wonderful benefactor souls, who are not aware of how big deal their offering is! They will be remembered and they shall be blessed. 🙂
